Laser-assisted, automated tape placement (LATP) refers to the precise, position- and direction-dependent placement of unidirectional (UD) fiber-reinforced, pre-impregnated plastic material. This process uses thermal energy combined with mechanical pressure to create a welded bond between individual UD tapes. As part of your activities, you will work directly on our state-of-the-art LATP system (Ultra-Fast Consolidator), get to know the relevant machine components, and assist in their optimization and commissioning.

Your ProfileYour Profile
- You are a student in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Production Technology, or a similar engineering field.
- You are motivated, a team player, and ready to solve tasks independently.
- Prior knowledge in CAD/Design (Solidworks) and programming (TwinCaT) is advantageous.
Your Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in the optimization, design, and testing of machine components for the Ultra-Fast Consolidator system.
- Participating in the integration and commissioning of sensors.
- Assisting with LATP experiments and other project-related tasks.
What We OfferWhat We Offer
The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 1 year.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 19 hours.
The agreement regarding weekly hours can be arranged flexibly.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14.50 euros per hour.
