Our ProfileOur Profile

In winter semester 2026/2027 the Faculty of Civil Engineering would like to provide a support program for its international first-semester students of the English-language Master's programs or majors. For this purpose we are looking for three students as tutors who will support the new students here on campus over a period of four months during their start into their studies.

  • You are committed, reliable, communicative and fluent in
  • You have already studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering for at least one semester in one of the English-language Master's programs Civil Engineering (focus on Advanced Computational Methods in Civil Engineering), Transport Engineering and Mobility (focus on Railway Systems Engineering) or Sustainable Management - Water and Energy.

You may need a residence and work permit valid in the period 2026-10-01 to 2027-01-31. You must be in Aachen by August to complete and sign all the necessary documents.
The job requires constant presence in Aachen.

Your Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour Duties and Responsibilities

  • You help new students of the English-language Master's programs in Civil Engineering to find their way around RWTH Aachen University and their studies over a period of four months. One tutor is assigned to the students of “Advanced Computational Methods in Civil Engineering“, another one to the students of “Railway Systems Engineering“ and the third one to the students of “Sustainable Management - Water and Energy”.
  • You support the students to get to know each other and especially to form learning
  • You take care of your group of first-semester students and organize various You provide students with contact persons in the faculty for questions and problems.
  • You will regularly exchange information with the faculty's student advisor (Dr. Keunecke) in online meetings about your activities and the questions and problems of the students in your groups. In these meetings, you will also receive training on the content so that you are prepared for the meetings with your student groups.

The position is to be filled by 10/31/2026 and offered for a fixed term up to January 31, 2027.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 5 hours.
The job requires you to be based in Aachen.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 17,60 euros per hour.
