The E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University focuses on sustainable energy supply concepts that consider both technical feasibility and socio-economic aspects. The Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems investigates the scientific and technological developments of next-generation energy networks. Our work centers particularly on the information technology challenges of controlling, regulating, and simulating future networks. Our institute is very active in numerous national and international projects – especially at the EU level – and boasts a highly international faculty. We are looking for a person with:

  • Bachelor`s degree + immatriculation in a consecutive Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Good programming skills, preferably in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript or comparable programming languages
  • Experience with Git, Linux, Docker and REST APIs
  • Interested in backend systems, communication protocols, and distributed systems
  • Ability to read, summarize and structure scientific literature
  • Independent and reliable work ethics
  • Good written and spoken English skills

 

Your Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks involve, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Developing and testing small software components, backend services, and APIs
  • Supporting system integration, automation scripts, and technical documentation
  • Working with Git, Linux, Docker, Python, and REST APIs
  • Supporting literature review, paper summaries, and scientific writing
  • Preparing research-related material, presentations, and project documentation

What We OfferWhat We Offer

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term for one year.
Subject to satisfactory performance and project requirements, an extension may be possible, but not beyond the duration of the project.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 16h (flexibel) hours.
Working hours negotiable (weekly hours and start date).
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of €16.80 per hour (for students holding a Bachelor's degree).
