The Chair of Cognitive and Experimental Psychology (Lehrstuhl 1) is looking for five motivated Research Assistants/Associates with Bachelor's degree (f/m/d) to support various research projects led by Dr. Elena Benini (1 student), Dr. Leif Johannsen (2 students), M.Sc. Alice Camisa (supervised by Dr. Patricia Hirsch, 1 student), and M.Sc. Luigi Falanga (super-vised by Dr. Iring Koch, 1 student). The workload is 8 hours/week. The projects will examine the principles of human cognition, and sensorimotor control (Leif Johannsen), in laboratory and online studies. Being willing to collaborate with the Chair in the long term is a plus, but not mandatory.

Your ProfileYour Profile

  • Bachelor's degree and immatriculation in a consecutive course
  • Have a good very good command of English. In particular, the students who will work with Elena Benini, Luigi Falanga and Alice Camisa need to be willing to communicate exclusively in English.
  • Be able to conduct organized and independent work.
  • Have effective time management.
  • Be willing to read and summarize scientific articles from the field of cognitive psychology.
  • Be highly motivated to familiarize yourself with new tasks and subject areas.
  • Be confident in using statistical software (SPSS/R) or have a strong motivation to learn them.
  • Know programming languages such as Python or Matlab or be motivated to learn them.

  • Literature research
  • Recruitment of test subjects among students or volunteers
  • Schedule and supervise laboratory and online studies
  • Support in programming experiments (after training)
  • Support in analysing data (after training)
  • General organizational support work at the chair

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term for one year.
We are interested to extend the position for more years.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 15.20 euros per hour.
