The team at the DAP (Digital Additive Production) Chair at RWTH Aachen University, in collaboration with industrial and academic partners, is researching the fundamental principles of digital and additive manufacturing and translating these findings into industrial applications. We work on topics ranging from component design and the manufacturing process to production and the performance characteristics of additively manufactured components. In addition, our development efforts focus on supporting processes such as design, quality management, and the mapping of the entire digital process chain. Customized consulting and training services round out our service portfolio. Through industrial projects, we work in close cooperation with partners from the automotive, aerospace, turbomachinery, life sciences, and mechanical, tool, and mold manufacturing sectors to develop and help shape the future of digital and additive manufacturing. In addition, the DAP offers a wide range of opportunities for professional and personal development within a highly motivated team.
Your ProfileYour Profile
- Enrolled student in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Media Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar)
- Experience with Unity (strongly preferred) or other game engines
- Programming experience in C#
- Interest in AR/VR technologies and interactive systems
- Basic knowledge of 3D tools (e.g., Blender or CAD) is a plus
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good command of English or German (both are a plus)
Your Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour Duties and Responsibilities
- Support for the development of AR/VR prototypes for additive manufacturing use cases using Unity
- Design and implement interactive XR experiences (VR & AR)
- Assistance with the integration of haptic feedback systems into immersive applications
- Work with real hardware setups (VR/AR headsets, additive manufacturing systems)
- Support research on digital twins and industrial XR applications
- Prepare and present demos at fairs, exhibitions, and project events

The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 12 months.
Continued employment is planned.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 12 hours.
The number of hours per week can be increased by arrangement.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 15.20 euros per hour.
